Take that, Vista!

This term being my last term at UW, and not knowing when I'll be able to get another free copy of Vista, I decided to upgrade. There are some things better about vista - the search layout is much more intuitive, when you open up your programs in start, there's a bar so your programs don't take up your whole screen and setting up a network is much easier. However, I recently found out one thing which I don't like - and a very simple way around it. You can't access your "local settings" folder - application data is stored here, and the temp folder. You can't get access even by changing the setting access via administrator. Online, the only way I found to get access was to grant access to the whole c drive which would have taken more time than I'm willing to spend.

My solution is simple - but requires another program: total commmander. It's a pretty simple and intuitive folder explorer. Once you install, you need to add access to all folders: configuration->options->Display->Show hidden/system files.

Enjoy!
