That's where I was on the weekend... taking a 13 hour bus there and back (which was supposed to be 8.. I think there is a norm for polish busses.. to only state 2/3rds of the travel time).
The city was spectacular... Alot cleaner than Polish cities (including Warsaw) and better kept. There was soo many things to see - I definitely recommend at least 3 days for anyone visiting.. but not much more.
The beer... despite popular belief.. is not that cheap. The economic situation in (which has been improving in Prague) has increased the price of beer, and food. I would say marginally (but noticably) more expensive than Poland.
I also realized - Czech is a completely different language than Polish. I know English AND Polish - so I can get along with quite a few more people - but with only one or the other it would have been alot harder. I find that the mentality of czechs fits nicely between poles and germans. They are more orgainzed, cleaner, (less weird) than poles, but don't go so far as Germans.
When I saw that around the communist blocks there was green grass, with beautiful birches swaying in the spring breeze, a dog walking a rollerbalder (nobody rollerblades in Poland... less 3 people) and all the garbage in the bins, I thought this was the place to be. Of course, Germany is even more... yet there comes a point when perfection saturates... the little cracks reveal the beauty (but in Poland, you really need to know how to rollerblade.. cause there are too many big cracks).
